Why This

vs SaaS or a cheap setup

SaaS Cheap freelance This service
Cost model Monthly subscription $25–100 one-time $800–1,800 one-time
You own License only The deployed system Everything: system, toolkit, docs
Data location SaaS servers Your servers Your servers
Security baseline Provider-managed Often unclear Lynis Index ≥ 75, verified
Lock-in High Low None — toolkit + docs = independence
Good fit
  • Growing businesses moving off SaaS pricing as volume scales
  • Companies with in-house tech teams who can operate the platform
  • Anyone with data-sovereignty needs (EU, compliance-sensitive)
  • Marketing teams that want full control over their email infrastructure
Not a fit
  • Spam, purchased lists, scraped contacts — refused at intake per AUP
  • B2C consumers — B2B engagements only
  • Gray-area content without disclosure (cannabis / gambling / crypto need pre-review)
  • Quick-and-dirty $25 setups — this isn’t that

Process

How it works

  1. 01

    Intake

You submit an intake form. I accept, request more info, or decline. If accepted: contract signing + setup fee.

  2. 02

    Preparation

You provision a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 LTS VPS, add my SSH key, and provide a scoped DNS API token.

  3. 03

    Setup

Pre-flight verification, mail stack install, DNS authentication, security hardening, Toolkit deployment, test sending.

  4. 04

    Handoff

Signed acceptance report, I revoke my access, and the 14-day Q&A window starts.

  5. 05

    Q&A window

Email-only questions about Toolkit and documentation for 14 days. Then the engagement is complete.

FAQ

Frequently asked

How does this compare to Mailchimp or SendGrid?

Those are SaaS — ongoing subscription, your data on their servers, pricing that scales with volume. I install a comparable platform on YOUR servers, you pay once, you own it. After delivery you have no monthly fees from me.

What if I need maintenance later?

After the 14-day Q&A window the engagement is complete. The Self-Service Toolkit and operating manual cover most operational needs. For significant new work, contact me for a separate engagement (typically $200–500 depending on scope).

Can I add more domains myself?

Yes. The toolkit includes add-domain.sh, which automates SPF/DKIM/DMARC setup for new domains. No need to engage me for routine additions.

What’s your stack?

Postfix (MTA) + Listmonk (campaign UI) + rspamd (DKIM signing & spam filtering) + Prometheus + Grafana + Loki + Alertmanager + Caddy, PostgreSQL backend. All deployed via Ansible on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

Do I need to sign a DPA?

If you have EU subscribers (or you’re EU-based), yes — per GDPR Article 28. Korea has an EU adequacy decision (2022), so no SCC is needed. The DPA is short and limited to the setup phase.

What’s the Lynis report?

Lynis is a Linux security audit tool. I aim for Hardening Index ≥ 75 at delivery; the report becomes part of your handoff package as a security baseline. Custom hardening to a higher index is available as an add-on.
